Our Procedures

Femto SBK

Corrects:

  • Farsightedness
  • Nearsightedness
  • Astigmatism

Femto SBK removes an extremely thin layer of epithelium and Bowman’s membrane – the smooth layer just below the epithelium whose strong collagen fibers help the eye maintain its shape. The procedure is done with a cool-beam laser, which allows the surgeon to maintain the corneal integrity, resulting in a fast visual recovery.

The ultra-thin nature of the membrane and maintenance of corneal integrity means that Femto SBK is a unique procedure and an excellent option to LASIK with a microkeratome (blade).

Femto SBK patients report fewer cases of dry eyes compared to those undergoing LASIK. Eyes were less sensitive to light and the chances for serious complications were considerably diminished.

PRK

Corrects:

  • Farsightedness
  • Nearsightedness
  • Astigmatism

During a PRK procedure, a cool beam of laser light is used to gently reshape the surface of the cornea to correct astigmatism and the blurred vision it can cause.

Refractive Lens Exchange

Corrects:

  • Farsightedness
  • Nearsightedness

RLE is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the clear natural crystalline lens to correct vision issues such as nearsightedness and farsightedness. It is performed in the same way as a cataract operation, during which the eye’s natural lens is removed and replaced by a new plastic lens. The eye’s refraction error is corrected as the new lens correction is compared to the eye’s original lens.

Corneal Crosslinking

Corrects:

  • Keratoconus

Corneal Crosslinking is used to treat Keratoconus, a corneal disease that occurs when the normally round dome-shaped cornea experienced progressive thinning that creates a cone-like bulge to develop. The condition is often diagnosed during adolescence and early adulthood with variable rates of progression.

The bulging of the eye is caused by the normal pressure of the eye pushing out on the thinned areas of the cornea. Because the cornea refracts most of the light coming into the eye, a misshaped cornea can create reduced visual acuity and negatively impact a person’s vision. This reduced visual acuity can make it difficult to execute even simple daily tasks, including driving a car, watching TV or reading.

  • LASER VISION CORRECTION BENEFIT #12

Professional athletes, law enforcement personnel, and those engaged in high-impact activities consider life without lenses a gift they should have given themselves years ago.
